Broken Eyes emerges from the tragic events that happened in Chile and Colombia Octobre 2019. A political and social crisis that left more than 700 injured - more than 700 eye injuries from police shots during protests; since the police have been aiming for heads.
Beyond Chile and Colombia, it's happening in France, Lebanon, Hong Kong, Cachemire, Palestine, etc...
Broken Eyes is built from various sources: archival images, testimonies of victims of mutilation, performances, texts collected from slogans chanted in popular demonstrations in different regions of the world, military and scientific texts. The movements of the bodies, the gazes interpellate. Laser pointers cross the air, they are resistance actions. Everything is extinguished. But the eyes insist, they recover the spaces, the bodies, the eyes return, they are restituted.
Is it possible to restore the gaze? Is it possible for the eyes to take their place again? Is it possible for them to revolt and do justice?
