EXHIBITION
Every year, GIV organizes over a dozen presentation events, co-presents major projects nationally and internationally and initiates creative production projects and presentations in collaboration with community organizations. With its ongoing dissemination activities, GIV has a recognized and active presence on the Montreal artistic landscape:
VIDÉOS DE FEMMES DANS LE PARC (VFP)
Organized once a year in collaboration with the Théâtre de Verdure in Montreal’s Lafontaine Park, the VFP outdoor screening highlights the most recent independent videos less than 10 minutes long, created by Canadian and Quebecoise female artists. This program is conceived from entries following our call for submissions, circulated throughout the artistic community and artist-run centres.
LA VOÛTE
Historic and thematic programs presented at GIV, propose new contexts for interpretation of the works in our archive. Initiated and managed by Anne Golden, these programs are conceived following a call for submissions.
TOPOVIDÉOGRAPHIES
Artists and curators are invited to create a program focusing on issues of geography, territory and identity.
LAISSEZ-PASSER
Proposes an evening of exchange and discussion at GIV with an invited artist, curator or media arts professional.
COMMUNAUTÉS _ LE GIV SE PROMÈNE
This activity consists of a series of interventions, which connects different publics with independent video and serves to highlight the importance of the medium in citizen-based actions, as well as the medium’s accessibility as a tool for exchange.
LE GIV PRÉSENTE
These events, which are held at the Maison de la culture du Plateau-Mont-Royal, present screenings of recent local acquisitions of work in the presence of the artists.
À L’OCCASION
A space that is open to special projects, co-presentations, collaborations and tours.
