BIO : Vanessa Ragone
Born in Santa Fe, 1967, studied at the Centro de Experimentación y Realización Cinematográfica of the National Cinematography Institute, Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she earned her degree as film maker in 1991.
She currently teaches at the Centre of Cinematographic Investigation School for Film and TV, Buenos Aires and the National Cinema School. Her new project Deconstructing Dad is a digital video documentary on the life and works of her father, photographer Carlos Ragone.
She directed numerous documentaries :
1999 : Tribute to Jorge Luis Borges produced by the State Secretariat of Culture. Ayllus / The people co-filmed with the Kolla indigenous community of Los Naranjos, province of Salta, produced by the Interamerican Development Bank on behalf of the State Secretariat of Social Development.
1998 : Ayvu-Pora / The Beautiful Words co-filmed with the Guaraní indigenous community of Tamanduá, province of Misiones. Project supported by Antorchas Foundation, the State Secretariat of Culture, UNESCO and UNDP.
1997 : Young Women on the Young Women’s Training Program produced by World University Service/Argentina and Diakonisches Werk/Germany
Between 1993 and 1995 she produced and directed stories for the TV series Historias de la Argentina Secreta and Documento Nacional de Identidad, ATC (the State channel).
1993 : Vertigoes or The Contemplation of Something Falling award winning documentary based on the writings of the Argentine poet Alejandra Pizarnik, funded by the National Film Institute and the National Arts Endowment.
1989 : When The Moon Takes Too Long in indigenous communities of the province of Salta, 45’, produced by UNDP.
1991 : Born and living here in indigenous communities of the provinces of Misiones, Salta and Santa Fe, 50’, produced by Interalternative Cooperation.
1996 : Women and Health a series of educational videos on health prevention for women, produced by the Ford Foundation and UNDP on behalf of a local NGO
