BIO : Emma Waltraud Howes
Emma Waltraud Howes, native de Toronto, a fait de la danse contemporaine sous la direction de grands noms tels que The Danny Grossman Dance Company, Margie Gillis et Serge Benetton. Elle est également diplômée en art interdisciplinaire et en études culturelles à l’Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design à Vancouver. Elle s’est ensuite impliquée dans le monde de l’art contemporain et a réalisé une série de vidéos expérimentales sur la forme humaine et l’espace privé/public. Bien reçus de la critique et du public, ses vidéos tiennent l’affiche dans de nombreux festivals d’art et de danse. Elle a également été reçue en coproduction au GIV pour la réalisation d’un nouveau projet. Emma vit et travaille à Montréal.
Emma Waltraud Howes was born in Toronto, Canada. She began her career as a contemporary dancer: she performed with renowned choreographers such as The Danny Grossman Dance Company, Margie Gillis, Serge Benetton, namely. She later studied at The Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver where her focus of research was the interdisciplinary arts and cultural-criticism. After her studies she continued to work as an independent artist.
Some of her most well received projects were a series of experimental videos that addressed the body and private/public space. These videos were shown internationally in both dance and arts related festivals. She was awarded a production grant from GIV to produce a new video work. She currently resides in Montreal.
