Dans le cadre du FIFA Expérimental, le GIV est fier de coprésenter le Focus Thirza Cuthand.
Célébration de l’une des voix les plus fortes de l’art vidéo et du cinéma expérimental au Canada. Thirza Cuthand aborde sans compromis la sexualité, la folie, le racisme, le colonialisme, l’identité queer, la magie et la spiritualité. Une sélection de huit oeuvres, réalisées depuis 1996, témoigne d’un pratique artistique de près de 25 ans. La présence de l’artiste, sa voix, son corps, sont à la fois sujet et objet des courts métrages narratifs expérimentaux.
D’origine crie et écossaise, Thirza Cuthand vit actuellement à Toronto.

The tribute to Thirza Cuthand is an opportunity to celebrate one of the most powerful voices in Canadian video art and experimental cinema. The artist tackles sexuality, madness, race, colonialism, queer identity, magic and spirituality head-on. This selection of eight works made since 1996 speaks to a mature oeuvre spanning nearly 25 years in which she has made her voice, her body—her presence—at once the subject and the object of her experimental narrative shorts.
Of Cree and Scottish heritage, Thirza Cuthand currently lives in Toronto.
