A documentary video produced in collaboration with Haggith Gor- Ziv, exploring the experiences of people living with a hearing disability. Produced for an exhibition on the topic at the Children Museum, Holon, Israel (2007).
Tirtza Even was born in Jerusalem. She has been a practicing video artist and documentary maker for over fifteen years. Her work has appeared at the Museum of Modern Art, NY, at the Whitney Biennial, the Johannesburg Biennial, as well as in many other festivals, galleries and museums in the United States, Israel and Europe, and has been purchased for the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (NY), the Jewish Museum (NY), the Israel Museum (Jerusalem), among others. Currently an Associate Professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Dr. Haggith Gor Ziv is the academic director the Center of Critical Pedagogy at Kibbutzim College of Education, Tel Aviv, Israel. She was the academic director of a teachers’ preparation degree program in Education for Social Justice, Environmental Justice and Peace Education. She is an author of peace education, human rights and gender equality curricula. Haggith Gor Ziv has facilitated Jewish and Arab dialogue groups. She wrote Arabic literacy curricula for first-second graders and for youth at risk. She has been teaching critical pedagogy and multicultural curricula for early childhood in various countries in South East Asia and Africa.
She published the books: Militarism and Education (2005) and Critical feminist pedagogy and education for culture of peace (2013). She has created 3 documentary films with Tirza Even, Women Only, women’s personal narratives on pregnancy and birth, Invisible to the World, on caring for a mentally ill family member, and Sign Discourse, deaf people discussing their views of the world.
