An experimental short film that merges documentary nature footage from Prelinger archives with a video performance exploring the issue of exile. This combination creates a dreamlike atmosphere that is inspired by the loss of connection to the earth, bodies without roots and ignored rhythms.
Un court-métrage expérimental qui allie des séquences documentaires sur la nature provenant des Archives Prelinger avec une vidéo de performance qui explore la question de l’exil. Cette combinaison créé une atmosphère onirique qui est inspirée par le manque de connexion à la terre, les corps sans racines et les rythmes ignorés.
Karina Arbelaez is a visual artist of Colombian origin with a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from the National University of Colombia. She has lived and worked in Montreal since 2012. She uses video and illustration as a tools to express her experiences from a migratory point of view by highlighting questions of identity, social constructions and relations with the Other – the “Other” being, the unknown that frightens or attracts us, people, communities, or simply the earth itself.
