Treasure Hill Camouflage examines cultural and physical camouflage as a method of survival. In Taiwan, my natural Asian appearance deceives my “real” Korean culture and I can pass as Chinese or Taiwanese camouflaging race and appearance. Camouflaging is also a military technique and a method of survival, a tactic to blend into the scenery in order to stay alive. Based on the history of the Treasure Hill village, the performative camouflage method that I use in the video reflects the complex history of Taiwan.
