Through a simple act of child’s play, a young boy confronts both his parent’s overwhelming protection and his own very real fears. Slide is an animated short film whose narrative centres around the metaphor of being handicapped. Even loving parents hand us crutches; what we do with them is up to us.
Sharon Katz’s domestic world takes curious, material form in her work – from needles pushing through fabric to animated pink panties, from beef and bone memento mori to the sensual bonding of a shirt collar and tie. Born and raised in Montreal, she has produced and directed six animated short films. She continues to work in narrative animation, video/sculpture hybrids, and drawing/assemblage.
