Plaza Hutchison has long been home to many essential services to the community. BSR Group recently bought the property with the intention of building luxury apartments – too small and too expensive for the neighborhood’s residents – in the total indifference of Projet Montréal’s “elected officials”. Park-Ex is not for sale was made in the urgency to call to protest in front of the borough council. In vain: a month later, the promoter was given the coveted permit.

Depuis 2001, Jenny Cartwright collabore à la production de documentaires à Montréal et à travers le globe. Elle en a ramené des visions du monde qu’elle distille dans des œuvres sensuelles et décapantes.
Polyvalente, elle porte à bout de bras la scénarisation, la réalisation, la production, le montage image et la distribution de ses films. Ses années à mener des luttes dans les domaines culturel et social lui ont appris à faire beaucoup avec des budgets restreints, ce qui lui permet de tourner de façon indépendante, et de conserver intact un esprit punk et un regard critique sur sa société.

Jenny Cartwright is involved with documentary film production since 2001. Based in Montreal, she has worked on projects shot around the globe. Her experiences abroad shows through her sensible though incisive work.
She produces, writes, directs, edits and distributes herself. Her involvement with social and cultural community groups has made her used to accomplish great endeavours with limited resources. This is also true when it comes to shooting films: she always keeps a critical eye upon society, and her DIY philosophy gives her work a distinctively punk spirit.
