Closer to Her est une vidéo performance filmée lorsque le soleil d’hiver a créé par hasard d’étranges reflets sur le mur de l’atelier. Après avoir mis la caméra en marche, je suis montée sur le rebord de la fenêtre et j’ai expérimenté différentes façons de me déplacer, de transformer mon corps pendant que la lumière augmentait, diminuait et disparaissait. Cette vidéo, où des ombres transparentes se superposent et se transforment en êtres hybrides hésitant entre l’humain et l’insecte, est peut-être la plus proche de mes aquarelles. La vidéo renvoie aussi à une certaine agitation intérieure, à la construction de soi, à une présence – un censeur – qui dicte ou réprime mes actions.
Closer to Her is a performance-based video filmed by accident when the winter sun created strange reflections on the opposite wall of my studio. I turned on the camera, climbed onto the windowsill and experimented with different ways of moving, transforming and morphing my body as the light increased, decreased and finally disappeared. This video is perhaps the one closest to my watercolor drawings where soft shadows overlap and transform into hybrid beings caught between human and insect forms. It also refers to inner turmoil, to the construction of self, to some kind of presence – a censor – dictating or repressing actions.
