The Lesbian Almanac is a Situationist calendar of dyke objects. This video features 12 paintings from the dyke community, examples of word play and literal interpretation through political claims and personal visions that become a lesbian collective unconscious.
Lamathilde est une artiste en vidéo-performance-son franco-canadienne, qui vit et travaille à Montréal. Après des études en cinéma et une maîtrise en linguistique, Lamathilde retourne à ses premières amours: l’image et le son. Son travail porte sur l’identité à travers le genre et la sexualité. Il a été présenté dans plusieurs festivals et galeries, entre autres au FIFA (Montréal), Pink Screens (Bruxelles), Festival des films gais et lesbiens (Paris), London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival, Mix Festival (New York). Lamathilde fait aussi partie du collectif de performance WWKA (women with kitchen appliances), depuis 2004.
Lamathilde’s work investigates identity through sexuality and gender using low-grade video, super 8, manipulated film footage and stop-motion animation. Sound is at the core of her practice. Her work has been shown in many galleries and international festivals, including Pink Screens – Brussels, Festival des films gais et lesbiens – Paris, London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival , Mix Festival – New York, and as well as in Germany, Italy, Holland, Philippines, Canada, Slovenia, Australia, Lebanon. Born in France, Lamathilde lives and works in Montreal. She is part of the sound-performance collective WWKA (women with kitchen appliances), has hosted a radio show for 5 years and is an active member of the Montreal visual arts scene.
